We need your help!

Join us at our next meeting:
Thursday, Sept. 11, 7 pm, in the Lincoln Library

Meetings are usually held the 2nd Thursday of each month in the Lincoln Library.  Without the support of our parents and community through the Lincoln Foundation, many of the activities and supplies at Lincoln would not be funded. If you are not able to come to the activities at the school, consider a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation. Help the school and its students, and help yourself!

Sign up your grocery cards to raise money for the Foundation!

What is the Lincoln Foundation?
The Lincoln Foundation is a non-profit organization formed in 1994 by concerned Lincoln parents. These parents volunteered to raise funds to help fill the void left after the State of California’s school funding cuts. The PTA has strict regulations from the national organization regarding its fundraising and needed support to fill the void, thus the Lincoln Foundation was born. Click here to read the Foundation’s Mission Statement and more about this organization.

Foundation Silent Auction

The Foundation's next big event is the Silent Auction, scheduled for May 22 during Open House. The Foundation is looking for items to be donated and auctioned at this event. Last year's auction raised more than $8,400. A flyer with more information went home in the Thursday folders, or contact Kathy Ranek, 248-9073, for more information. Your donation is tax-deductible.

Celebrate the End of School Year at Foundation's Dinner/Dance
The Lincoln Foundation invites you to help celebrate the end of the school year with an adults-only Dinner/Dance on Friday, June 13, 7 pm at The Ambrosia in Glendale. Principal Card's band will rock the house and all proceeds will go toward purchasing shade structures for the playground. Lincoln parents and their guests, Lincoln teachers and staff, and all alumni parents are welcome. Save the date!

Playground Shade Structures
The first of many fundraisers, “Shades of Love,“ raised $1,025 toward the purchase of shade structures for our campus playground. Thank you to all those who supported this wonderful cause and a special thanks to Lisa and Lissa at Dream Dinners for donating all the dinners for free. Additional fundraising efforts for shade structures are grants, club cards and www.escrip.com. Ask friends, neighbors or relatives to join us in getting shade for our kids. It only takes minutes to ask for a life time of shade.

Please take some time to review these sun-safety strategies.

Escrip Program
Do you clip coupons for your trip to the grocery store? Check out eScrip “Coupons for Kids” where you can download and print coupons from major manufacturers. The Foundation earns 5¢ for each coupon used at participating eScrip merchants. Please visit
www.escrip.com and click on “Coupons for Kids” to get the coupons. Additional information will in send home in Thursday folder.

Foundation Notes
The Foundation will hold its next recycle contest in May. Save those old cell phones, ink/laser and toner cartridges, and old laptops and ipods. Two lucky classes will earn an ice cream party

While striving for fun activities, the foundation retains its main goal of raising funds to help Lincoln be the best it can be. Last year’s events raised money to help pay for numerous improvements around campus, including

  • $10,500 for installation of grass and irrigation to enlarge the existing grass area on the playground and add a second grass area
  • $12,500 to pay salaries for the computer lab specialist and the primary music teacher
  • $1,800 grant to purchase glaze for clay projects
  • $1,500 grant to the Garden Club
  • $540 grant to send teachers to Kindergarten Conference
  • $500 to purchase tools for the janitorial staff
  • $150 school supply grant for each teacher

The foundation encourages all parents to attend its monthly meetings and provide input on how best to help Lincoln this year. We meet the second Thursday of every month at 7 pm in the Lincoln Library. For more information, email Mark Pappas or Ronnie Tucker.
